London Fashion Week 2020: Schedule & Exhibits

Before the spring season gets well and truly underway, fashionistas all over the globe will have one eye open on London Fashion Week this February, getting inspiration for their next wardrobe additions. The event has been hosted by The British Fashion Council since 1984, when it started in a simple West London car park. Since then, it has gained substantial prominence in the world of global fashion exhibition.

Today attendees are invited to watch some of the finest names in fashion showcase their creations; a far cry from a small scale event hosted in a car park. Read on to find out what to expect at February’s London Fashion Week 2020.

What’s New at February’s London Fashion Week?

The first of two annual fashion weeks, London Fashion Week February 2020 brings with it an important change; the Positive Fashion Exhibition.

The Positive Fashion Exhibition

At LFW 2020, The Designer Showroom has been transformed into a space focussing on ‘positive fashion’; that is, sustainability, equality & diversity, and craftsmanship & community.

The exhibition will showcase brands and immersive experiences that explore positive fashion, including demonstrations and talks. The idea is to inspire guests to think differently about fashion.

They will learn about how things are made, important global positive fashion stories, and about changes in the industry. Exhibitions include:

Choose Love” – an initiative that started in 2015 with a view to support immigrants in the so-called Calais Jungle, today the Choose Love / Help Refugees campaign supports displaced people all over the world. Choose Love t-shirts designed by Katherine Hamnett are climate-neutral and made of 100% organic cotton, and will be available to buy at LFW 2020.

bareMinerals” – this well-loved make-up and skincare brand are renowned for using clean, ‘good-from-the-earth’ ingredients. Their philosophy centres on purity, and so products are free from harsh chemicals and unnecessary additives.

Stay Wild” – a swimwear brand who pride themselves on inclusivity, designing swimwear to flatter all body types. Stay Wild swimwear is made using regenerated ocean plastic, so consumers can choose to make an ethical yet fashionable choice.
